Lonville pocket watch

Found this watch on ebay as well, sold as not running but only eleven bucks, shipped!

Note the overcoil balance spring and goose-neck regulator. Nice!

I stopped shooting at this point. I did take the barrel bridge off so I could clean it and the main plate, but left the barrel intact - don't feel ready to tackle cleaning a mainspring just yet...
Got it put back together just fine, wound it a few turns with a screwdriver as I lack a proper stem, gave the balance a gentle nudge. Ticked for a few seconds, then stopped. Seemed like the pallet stones just weren't engaging very well with the escapement wheel teeth. Closer inspection revealed that the dial side jewel is cracked slightly, allowing too much play. You can kind of make it out in this picture, it's the jewel just to the left of the second hand spindle:

Well, I don't have the tools or the know-how to replace a jewel yet, so back in the box it goes!

A little history on the Lonville Watch Company here.
